Support Children First's Fall Donor
Drive |

Did you know that 1 in 5 of
our community's children live in
poverty? This means that
20% of children may not have access
to warm clothing, adequate health
care or nutritious meals.
Children First wants
to raise $15,000 to support kids through
the Project MARCH Homework Clubs,
educate community members to inspire
action with advocacy
work and assist children, youth and
their families through the
Family Resource Center at Emma.

Children First Receives Donation
from AllState Foundation
|
|
Children First of Buncombe
County received a $500 donation from
the Allstate Foundation.
Presenting the check on behalf of
the Foundation was Rodney
and Diane Tarrants, owner
of Tarrants Agencey in Weaverville,
during the Rotary Club of Asheville
West meeting on Wednesday, November
28th. The Tarrants submitted an
application to the Allstate
Foundation and requested that
Children First be the recipient of
the contribution. This is the
fourth year that the Allstate
Foundation has made a $500 gift to
the Children First Family Resource
Center at Emma.
For over 15 years, the Tarrants have
been involved in philanthropy and
volunteering for various organizations
in Buncombe County. "We receive so much
community support for our business that
we want to give back to the community as
much as we can," said Rodney Tarrants.

Help us choose the 2008 Child Watch
Tour topic
|
|
Child Watch, a cooperative effort of
the Junior League of Asheville, Inc.
and Children First, gives
participants the unique opportunity
to personally experience just one of
the challenges facing children in
Buncombe County today. Child Watch
supplements the facts with the
emotions that numbers lack and tells
the stories of real children who
often go unnoticed among the
statistics. In a nutshell, Child
Watch is an issue-based field trip
for adults.
The goals of Child Watch include:
· Raising Awareness
· Creating New Leadership
· Inspiring Action

A very big "Thank You" to all of you who
donated toys or sponsored a child or

your support, Children First was able to
provide a very Merry Christmas to those
families in need this year.
In addition, we would like to thank
all of the employees and volunteers
at The Family Resource Center at
Emma who assisted with this effort.
