Program: Communities in
Schools
Position Title: Coordinator, Project
MARCH
Hours: 37.5, some nights and
weekends required
Salary:
$29,000 - $32,000
Overall Responsibility:
Coordination and oversight of Project MARCH Homework Clubs including the
assigned Project POWER/AmeriCorps members
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Coordination and oversight of Project POWER/AmeriCorps members and the
Children First Communities in Schools Homework Club sites and activities
including:
Responsible for management of Project MARCH program
Supervise and train Communities in Schools Project
POWER/AmeriCorps
members
Assist Project POWER/AmeriCorps members with planning
and facilitation of
homework clubs
Assist Project POWER/AmeriCorps members serving as Volunteer
Coordinators with adult program planning and coordination
Assist with management of community partnerships
involving multiple
agencies and two school systems
Assist with the development of sustainability efforts and manage
public
relations for program with input from supervisor and Children
First
marketing staff
Develop and facilitate intensive site orientation and training
for members
Develop and implement a family involvement component
Participate in site-visits from funders and community leaders
Attend Project POWER/AmeriCorps partner meetings, partner
orientation and
graduation
Maintain accurate, accessible records of Project MARCH
activities (time
logs, activity logs, volunteer recruitment logs, Education
Coalition
tutoring/mentoring logs, etc.)
Implement all required administrative tasks including required
reimbursement
requests, the Education Coalition requirements, in-kind donation
documentation from trainers and community donors and monthly
progress reports for the Project POWER program
Participate in Children First activities including monthly staff
meetings
Skills and Attributes:
o Ability to work effectively with people from diverse populations
o Strong verbal and written communication skills

families through advocacy, community collaboration and
programs”.
Experience Requirements:
o Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
o Three years work experience in working with school age children
o Computer literate
o Experience in
· effective supervision of multiple staff
· planning, implementing and evaluating of programs for children
and families
· working with people from diverse backgrounds
· budget preparation/management
Program:
Family Resource Center at Emma
Position Title: Family Resource Center at Emma Coordinator
Reports To: Director of Communities in Schools
(CIS)
Hours: 37. 5 per week, some nights and weekends
required
Salary: low $30,000’s
Overall Responsibility:
Coordination and oversight of staff and program activities for Children
First Family Resource Center at Emma
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Coordinate the delivery of services to the families in the Emma
community
of West Asheville, N.C. These may include: Emergency
Assistance,
Emma Bucks, parent/child support, and information and referral
services.
Develop additional programs based on needs assessments and
discussions
with Family Resource Center at Emma Advisory Committee and
approved by the CIS Director and
Executive Director.
Promote and develop community/Resource Center collaborations
including
Emma Elementary, Mission Hospitals and Department of Social
Services.
Maintain flexible hours of Center operation and program
scheduling.
Recruit, supervise and train volunteers.
Hire, train, supervise and evaluate staff in consultation with
CIS Director.
Develop a yearly budget with the CIS Director for the Center,
with approval
by Children First Board of Directors.
Provide budget oversight.
Complete all required grant, and agency paperwork.
Facilitate Family Resource Center at Emma Advisory Committee
meetings
with CIS Director.
Participate in Children First Staff meetings and events.
Other duties, as assigned.
Experience and Requirements:
· Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree with a major in social work,
counseling or
other human service field.
· Committed to a mission of “…improving the lives of children and
their
families through community collaboration, advocacy, and
programs.”
· Experience in planning and implementation of programs for
children and
families, including needs assessment and evaluation.
· Ability to work effectively with people from different
backgrounds.
· Strong written and oral communication skills.
· Ability to use computers to manage data and compose reports.
· Experience in recruiting, training and supervising volunteers.
