Dr. Olson Huff
By opening windows of opportunity, Olson has given his heart to children everywhere. Through his remarkable gifts of healing, compassion and collaboration, he has enriched the lives of children and forever strengthened our community and our state. Thank you, Dr. Huff. On Monday, October 15, 2001 Children First honored Dr. Olson Huff for his tireless work in our community for children and their families and presented him with the Children First Leslie Anderson Leadership Award. This Award honors an outstanding leader who has served Children First since its beginning. Dr. Huff has served on the Board of Directors since 1992 when Children First was an United Way Initiative. Dr. Huff is retiring as medical director of The Ruth and Billy Graham Children’s Health Center on December 31, 2001. The luncheon was held at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church and the guests were serenaded by children from The Children’s Center at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church and the Asheville High Madrigal Singers. There were many people that made this event such a success. Many thanks to Owen Manufacturing, BASF and David Huff for underwriting the event. Special thanks to the Children First Board Members that served as wait staff for the luncheon. Also thanks to the following for their contributions, Asheville High Madrigal Singers, Josh and the rest of the four year old class at Asheville Day Nursery, The Children’s Center at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, Discovery Toys, Dancing Bear Toys and Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church.
