ASHEVILLE — Children First recognized two Champions for Children,
Robbie Williams and the 28th District Juvenile Court counselors at
its recent board meeting. The board recognizes two individuals or
groups at each meeting.
Williams, co-founder of One Youth at a Time, is actively involved
with children’s issues, particularly among minority and economically
challenged populations. Williams was instrumental in developing the
tutoring and mentoring program for One Youth at a Time and in
implementing HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention programs using
volunteers from local churches and local health-related
organizations. She also serves on several boards and organizations
that support children.
The Juvenile Court counselors from the 28th District were
recognized for their hard work and dedication during a time of
adversity and for continuously providing quality services to youths
in Buncombe County.
The counselors honored are Sylvia Clement, Harold Cave, Kelly
Barber, Risha Burkett, Melissa Blake, Lynne Petersen, and secretary
Marilyn Eddy. |
