Below you will find information about meeting dates, times, and locations of important local advocacy outlets.

Buncombe County Government
The Commissioners meet on the first and third Tuesday of each month in Room 204 of the Buncombe County Courthouse in downtown Asheville. Their meetings are televised and can be seen online and on the County Government Channel 2. If you would like to speak to the Board in public comment, you can sign up just prior to their regular meeting times before 4:10 p.m. and you will be called on by the Chairman and have 3 minutes to make comment to the Board. The Commissioners' entire agenda packet for each meeting can be accessed here by noon every Friday prior to a regular meeting. For more information, contact the Clerk at 250-4105 or e-mail her. Buncombe County Schools Calendar

Board of Education for Buncombe County
Board meetings are scheduled for the first Thursday of each month. Meetings begin with a closed session at 4:00 p.m. and the general session at 6:30 p.m. Meetings are held at the Administrative Services Building in the Board Auditorium. Any person or group wishing to make a formal presentation to the Board or to address the Board must file a written request to be placed on the agenda at least seven days prior to a meeting.

Asheville City Schools Board of Education
Meetings of the Board of Education are generally held on the first Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Central Administrative Offices at 85 Mountain Street. Board work sessions and regularly scheduled meetings are open to the public and are televised on Channel 16, Asheville’s Education Access Channel.

Asheville City Council
City Council formal meetings are held the second and fourth Tuesday of every month beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber located on the second floor of the City Hall Building. City Council Worksessions are held on the first and third Tuesdays of every month at 3:00 p.m. in the First Floor North Conference Room located on the first floor of the City Hall Building. The public is invited to attend. City Council meetings may be viewed on InterMedia Channel 20 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays at 9:00 a.m. View our Advocacy Contacts for names and contact information of city council members.
