There Are Three Ways to Vote Early!

1. One Stop:
Beginning the October 16th, a voter can vote in person at any of our One-Stop Voting locations. All sites will be open Monday through Saturday, October 16 through Saturday November 1st. On Saturday, November 1st, all sites will be open from 8:30am - 1pm. [click here to see locations]

2. Written Request:
Send a written request to:  Rachel Brown, Board of Elections, PO Box 7468, Asheville, NC 28802. Be sure to include your name, address, phone number, date of birth and the address where the ballot should be mailed if different from your residential address. The written request must be signed by the voter in order to receive a ballot.

3. Absentee Request Form:
Do you need to help a near relative get a ballot who is away at college or is housebound and is unable to travel? Request it now by sending an email to: absenteeballot.request@buncombecounty.org

Near Relative Request: You can request an absentee ballot if you are the voter's spouse, brother, sister, parent, grandparent, child, grandchild, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, stepparent, stepchild, or verifiable legal guardian. Note: No one with Power of Attorney is allowed to request an absentee ballot for a voter unless he or she is the voter's near relative or verifiable legal guardian.

Absentee Deadlines for the November General
All requests for absentee ballots must be received by the Buncombe County Board of Elections office by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28th, 2008. Voted absentee ballots must be received by the Board of Elections office by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2008.   A voted ballot must be returned by mail, hand-delivered by the voter or hand-delivered by the voter's near relative as defined above.
