Attention Deficits: A New Look at an Old Problem

Dr. Ed Hamlin is a psychologist who is the Clinical Director of the Pisgah Institute’s Center for the Advancement of Human Potential. He received his doctorate in clinical psychology at UNC-Chapel Hill and neuropsychological training at Duke University where he taught in the Medical Center before moving back to Asheville where he helped found the Pisgah Institute. In 2002 he started the Center for the Advancement of Human Potential which is a project to help apply the new findings of neuroscience. In addition to his clinical work at the center, he holds academic appointments at East Tennessee State University Medical Center and Western Carolina University. He conducts research and teaches about brain/mind relationships. He is currently working to develop a clinic to help implement strategies for forestalling or reversing cognitive declines associated with normal aging and to improve cognitive and behavioral functioning of children and adults with ADHD.
